When we decided to replace our wood-burning fireplace with a gas fireplace one of our major concerns was the design and construction of a surround for the new fireplace. We had the good fortune to meet and hire Randy for the project. He designed and constructed a beautiful surround for a very reasonable cost. As an added bonus, Randy helped us with our project schedule by "working around" a number of delays related to the delivery and installation of the fireplace unit. Randy works in a calm and positive manner and is a good problem-solver. We highly recommend Randy Doolittle!

My husband and I love our fireplace so much, that I did want to comment about Randy's work. I was sure I was going to write something original, but in reading the comments, we all seem to see the same positive characteristics in Randy's work. For someone thinking of hiring him, that's a good thing. We converted our wood burning fireplace insert to gas, buying it from Hearth and Home. They gave us Randy's name, and as luck would have it, he had tiled our favorite fireplace in the showroom. When we met at our house we talked styles, he made a small drawing and gave us the name of the tile store that carried the tiles on the fireplace we liked. We never did interview anyone else, because we immediately liked Randy and his ideas. When it was finally time for his part of the project we discussed the tiles we had chosen and the final design. Randy is so easy to talk to and discuss ideas with during the entire process. He is a craftsman and an artist. From our thoughts and preferences, he constructed our dream fireplace. While he was working he was always considerate of us, our dogs, and the house. Because of the nature of the work, he was not always here full days, and that wasn't so bad. Don't get me wrong, Randy is a delight to have around, has a wonderful sense of humor, but our dogs do have the run of the house!
